LAS POSITAS SPORTS ROUNDUP

HAWKS WOMEN PUT UP PAIR OF HAT TRICKS IN SOCCER TREAT

In a rarity, the Las Positas women’s soccer team got natural hat tricks from Meghan Giamona and Paola Samaniego in an 8-0 rout of De Anza on Oct. 20, extending the Hawks’ winning streak to seven and unbeaten run to eight.

Three Hawks had two assists apiece: Mackenzie Bammer, Natalie Contreras and Rocio Perez. Goalkeeper Jennifer Parker had three saves in the shutout. Parker enters the week ranked third in the state in save percentage with a .918 mark, and midfielder Camila Fonseca, who had an assist against De Anza, is No. 2 in the state in assists with 14, to go along with five goals.

The Hawks will host West Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday and then will host Evergreen Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

MEN’S SOCCER

Jake “Cowboy” Foscalina scored both Hawks’ goals in a hard-fought 2-2 draw with fellow Coast Conference power Skyline. Foscalina is ranked tied for eighth in the state in scoring with 10 goals.

Jordan Quick assisted Foscalina in the 10th minute to give Las Positas a 1-0 lead, and after Skyline tied the game three minutes later, Foscalina struck again in the 30th minute on a double assist from Matt Hafizi and Omid Eibagi. But Skyline equalized in the 80th minute.

Las Positas (8-3-5, 4-0-3 Coast-North) will start a three-game homestand against Foothill on Tuesday. Kickoff will be at 1:30 p.m. The Hawks will host Ohlone at 4 p.m. on Friday and Evergreen Valley at 4 p.m. on Oct. 31.
