Hawks Play to 1-1 Stalemate

Heading down I-99, the Hawks had plenty of time to mentally prepare for a tough fresno team. Fresh off a state title in 2017 and runner-ups in 2016, Coach Cumbo knew the challenge in front of them. Armed with a talented squad and their cooler full of Gatorade and Snickers, the Hawks headed south ready for a challenge.

After feeling each other out for the majority of the first half, Las Positas (2-0-2) took a 1-0 lead on an Oscar Munoz goal in the 25th minute. Munoz, a sophomore forward, leads the Hawks in scoring with four goals, to go with two assists. Sophomore goalkeeper Kyle Rudd had another solid performance with six saves, playing through the sweltering heat of central California. Unfortunately, the lead would not hold with fresno scoring late. Hawks coach Andy Cumbo said, “Good team performance … We gave up a goal in the final second

The Hawks will begin a run of three consecutive home games on Tuesday, Sept. 11 against Santa Rosa. They will also host Lake Tahoe on Friday, Sept. 14 and Contra Costa on Tuesday, Sept. 18. All three home matches will start at 4 p.m.
