After opening the season with a 1-1 draw at Merritt, the high-octane Hawks enter this week fresh off wins over Lassen and Modesto by a combined score of 9-0.
In their 3-0 win over visiting Modesto, #HawkNation did all the damage in the first 30 minutes. Ali Amin notched goals in the 10th and 20th minutes on two assist from CCCAA Assist State Leader, Ian Slominski. Oscar Munoz rounded out the scoring on the day of the Hawks. Ian Slominski, a Livermore product who leads the state in assists with six, had two assists against Modesto while Christopher Finlez also lent a helping foot with one assist. Kyle Rudd made five saves for the shutout.
In the 6-0 trouncing of visiting Lassen on Aug. 30, the Hawks scored five times in a 30-minte span of the second half, helped along by Slominski’s three assists.
Nathan Robinson scored the Hawks’ first goal in the 10th minute off an Alexis Alvarez assist, one of two helpers for Alvarez in the match. Robinson, Sergio Lopez, Arnie Maravillas, Munoz, and Anthony Kumar all scored in the second half. Rudd (4 saves, 75 minutes) and Joshua Cho (1 save, 15 minutes) combined on the shutout.
In the season-opening tie with Merritt, Munoz gave the Hawks the lead off a double-assist from Slominski and Adeeb Haidari in the 47th minute. But Merritt equalized in the 86th minute as the Hawks let up.
The bar will be even higher this week as the Hawks will travel down I-99 to take on Defending State Champions, Fresno City College (1-0-2) on Friday, September 7.
