Coach James Giacomazzi took the LPC Hawks to his old stomping grounds, Consumnes River College to participate in the 39th annual James Clark Classic. Giacomazzi spent 11 years at CRC where his teams won two Big 8 Conference titles, reached the postseason six times, and made five appearances in the CCCAA Sweet Sixteen.
Hawk Nation came ready to play and came away with a 83-75 victory over Merced in the opening round of the Classic. The Hawks used their potent inside-outside combo to seal the victory. Dead-eye shooter Nick Evans led the way with 27 points, including converting 5 of 9 3 point attempts. He was 8 of 13 from the field and 6 of 7 on free throws. While Tulsa-bound big man Peter Hewitt had 17 points to go along with 12 rebounds. While the 6'11 Anand Hundal, posted his sixth double doubles in eight games, finishing with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
