After a hard-fought 11-point loss to host Monterey Peninsula in the opening contest, the Hawks looked to get back on the winning track on second day of the Monterey Classic. Hawk Nation did just that, dominating the fourth quarter as they outscored the Allan Hancock Bulldogs 24-12 to come away with a 57-55 win.
The Hawks were led by Ashley Hart's 18 points on 7-15 shooting and 2-3 from long range. Playing the role of shot blocker on the night, Monique Cannady protected the paint with three blocks. Chelsea LeVeille and Samantha Roney combined for 16 points and 13 rebounds. While Mikaela Malave led the team with four assists.
Coach Clarence Morgan shared his thoughts after the game, "It was a great team effort on both ends of the floor. We have seven semi-healthy players and they all contributed today."
The Hawks take on Cabrillo tomorrow at 11 am.
