Las Positas College sophomore Stokley Chaffee has accepted a full scholarship offer to attend Tennessee State University. The ultra-athletic 6'8" forward from Oakland, California had an exceptional sophomore season, averaging a double-double of 13 points and 10.4 rebounds while shooting 56% from the floor. In addition to helping the Hawks to 22 wins and a #13 state ranking, Chaffee consistently displayed a high level of defensive versatility and proved to be one of the most dominant forces on the glass in California. His 147 total offensive rebounds were number one in the state, and his 37 blocked shots provided the Hawks a capable rim protector. In non-conference play, Chaffee was selected to the All-Tournament team at the James Clark Classic at Cosumnes River College while also being named MVP of the Tony Costello Memorial Tournament at Las Positas College. Playing in the highly competitive Coast-North Conference, Chaffee was a consensus First Team All-Conference choice and became the second player in Las Positas College history to be recognized as a First Team All-State selection.
"Stokley has represented our program extremely well since he first set foot on campus," said Las Positas College head coach, James Giacomazzi. "His growth and achievements this season are a testament to his hard work on the floor and can only be matched by his work ethic as a student. Stokley is a great example for our players of what can happen when you handle your business in the classroom and bring a great attitude to the gym everyday. He's one of the best rebounders I've ever coached and his athleticism will translate well to the Division 1 level. We're grateful to have had him at Las Positas and I'm excited for his next chapter at Tennessee State."
