All Conference Honors

The Las Positas men's basketball team was rewarded for its outstanding regular season with three first-team selections in the Coast Conference-North Division.


 The sophomore trio of forward Jaden Woodard, wing Kodey Weary, and guard Richard Banks made the first team, and freshman forward Ted Bigg-Wither made honorable mention.


"We are all very proud of the efforts and accomplishments made by these tremendous student-athletes. It is always nice to be recognized by the head coaches of the Coast North Conference," Hawks head coach James Giacomazzi said. "Woodard and Banks have a 2-year record of 51-9 thus far and we hope to add to that win total."

 
Banks is No. 1 in the state in total steals with 102 in 27 games played. He also leads the conference in assists with 141.Bigg-Wither is third in CA in blocks with 72 in 26 games played. Woodard is third in the conference at 18.1 points a game, and Weary is seventh at 14.5 ppg. Weary and Bigg-Wither are fourth and fifth in the conference in rebounding at 9.8 and 9.6 per game. Bigg-Wither also tops the conference and is fourth in the state in shooting percentage at 67.3 percent.

Las Positas (25-3, 12-2) moved up a spot to No. 5 in the final California Community College Men's Basketball Coaches Association (CCCMBCA) state poll.

The Hawks were seeded seventh and received a first-round bye in the 3C2A Northern California Regional playoffs. They will face the winner of  No. 10 Sierra (22-6) and No. 23 (21) Redwoods (19-9) in Round 2 on Saturday, Feb. 28 at The Nest. Tip-off will be at 7 p.m.
