The unbeaten Las Positas men's soccer team (6-0-1) notched a fifth consecutive shutout in a 3-0 triumph over visiting Lake Tahoe on Friday, Sept. 19. 

The Hawks, riding a four-game winning streak, have not allowed a goal since a 2-1 home win over Siskiyous on Aug. 29.

Las Positas seized control against Lake Tahoe with two early goals — by Mark Sorensen, in the first minute, and Arteen Arianmanesh, in the fourth, assisted by Hector Gonzalez. Alex Gutierrez rounded out the scoring unassisted in the 50th minute.

The Hawks also blanked Contra Costa 2-0 on Sept. 16 as the versatile Arianmanesh had two assists. Arianmanesh entered the week ranked tied for sixth in the state in total points with 13, on four goals and five assists. His assist total is tied for fifth in CA.

Scoring against the Comets were Julian Hughes, in the 40th minute, and Hakuto Kremer, in the 70th minute.

The Hawks — ranked 13th in the Sept. 16 CCCSIA Men's Soccer Poll — will host Redwoods on Tuesday, Sept. 23 (11 a.m.) in their final tuneup before their Coast-South Conference opener at Foothill on Friday, Sept. 26 (1 p.m.).

"We're looking to for another solid performance," LPC head coach Andy Cumbo said in anticipation of the Redwoods match.

The Coast-South appears packed with quality teams. At least five squads have at least three wins, including Foothill at 3-2-1.
