Soccer Finishes The Season Ranked

The Las Positas College men's soccer team was rewarded for a fine season in a big way. The young Hawks are ranked No. 14 nationally in the final Junior College Division III Rankings by United Soccer Coaches.

Las Positas (13-5-5) finished the season with a 1-1 mark in the 3C2A Men's NorCal Regional Playoffs as the No. 15 seed. The Hawks upended visiting No. 18 Butte 1-0 in Round 1 and threw a scare into No. 2 seed Hartnell, the eventual state runner-up, in a 2-0 defeat in Salinas.

Against Butte, freshman Alexis Gutierrez scored the winner off an assist by freshman Dayton Dillman.

Standout sophomore keeper Sahib Sandhu, who had a 0.74 goals against average overall, worked the shutout.

The awards have come rolling in the Hawks.
