The Las Positas volleyball opened their season on the road at the Los Medanos Classic. They would take on host Los Medanos, a playoff qualifier a year ago and Folsom Lake, a member of the powerhouse Big 8 conference.

It was a four-set victory against the host Mustangs, as the final score read 25-21, 25-16, 23-25, 25-18.

Returning Hawk top hitter and all-conference selection, sophomore Ainsley Wade led the team with 15 kills and 12 digs. She was one of three that had double digit kills. Freshmen Madelyn Huddleston 11 kills and 26 digs and Zepora Tia 13 kills and 12 digs were the other two. Huddleston's dig total was a team high. Returning to dish out the assists is sophomore Jade Dancel who finished with 45.

Earlier in the day, the Hawks were on the wrong side of another four-set match, as this time they fell to Folsom Lake 16-25, 25-23, 22-25, 18-25.

The Hawks struggled from at the net, hitting at a rate only .064%. Wade was the only hitter to have more than 10 kills as she finished with 12 to go along with 12 digs. Tia and Huddleston chipped in with 8 and 7. Dancel handed out 33 assists.

The schedule makers have the Hawks on the road for three more matches, at Marin on Friday night with a 6 pm first serve, and then at the Modesto Quad on the 3^rd of September. There they will take on Columbia at 3 pm and San Jose City at 6:30 pm.
