Madi Huddleston for the kill

On a Roll

The Las Positas women's volleyball team keeps collecting impressive wins.

The Hawks (9-2), who have won seven in a row, reeled off three victories last week and capped the run with a dramatic win over Reedley in five sets on Friday, Sept. 19 in the Reedley Tri. The scores were 25-22, 23-25, 16-25, 25-22, 18-16.
Las Positas displayed an iron will in the road showdown.

"With Jade (Dancel) out (due to an injury), Camille Craighead stepped in to run a 5-1 (system) and did a great job," Hawks head coach Jamie Hadenfeldt said of the setter. "Madi (Huddleston) was the standout, really stepping up both physically and emotionally to lead the team."

An impressive freshman, Huddleston came up with critical kills in the decisive fifth game as the teams went point for point. Huddleston notched kills for the 17th and 18th points, effectively deciding the outcome.

Hadenfeldt described the contest as a "tough battle throughout, and in the end, the deciding factor was our team effort. The players played for each other and, and that made the difference."

Las Positas also swept Victor Valley in Reedley, 3-0, on Sept. 19. The scores were 25-17, 25-19, 25-23.

Earlier in the week, the Hawks drubbed visiting Napa Valley, 3-0. The scores were 25-15, 25-19, 25-23.

They will take on City College of San Francisco and Columbia on Wednesday in San Francisco, before heading South to take on San Jose City on Friday night.
