The women's volleyball team capped off a three-win week with a sweep of San Jose City last Friday night by a score of 25-16, 25-9, 26-24.
The dynamic duo of Maddie Huddleston and Ainsley Wade made sure the short-handed Hawks' winning streak would not be challenge. Huddleston led the offensive attack this time with 17 kills and 10 digs, while Wade had 16 kills to go with a team high 15 digs. Chloe Owyang kept the block from selling out on the outside with 7 kills from the middle and setter Jade Dancel handed out 37 assists on the night.
Earlier in the week, the Hawks picked up a pair of wins in the San Francisco Quad. It was a straight set win over San Francisco 25-9, 25-11, 25-11 and a 5-set win over Columbia 25-20, 9-25, 29-27, 11-25, 15-13. Wade had a career high 31 kills with Huddleston chipping in with 24 kills, hitting at a rate of .422%.
With the win, their record improves to 12-2, but more importantly the Hawks now have a program record 10 match winning streak, besting the nine-match winning streak established a year ago.
They have two remaining conference cross-over matches before the start of conference play. They will travel to San Bruno on Wednesday, Oct. 1st to take on Skyline before heading down the road to Fremont on Oct. 8th to face Ohlone.
