One day after surging to the No. 10 spot in the latest California Community College Men's Basketball Coaches Association (CCCMBCA) state rankings, Las Positas College justified its climb with a convincing 86-77 win at No. 8 West Valley College on Wednesday in Saratoga.
The Hawks won their 10th consecutive game and are 10-1 overall while West Valley dropped its second straight to fall to 9-2.
LPC overcame a 42-31 halftime deficit and outscored the Vikings 55-35 over the final 20 minutes to pull out the win in its biggest test of the season.
Dathan Satchell led the Hawks with 20 points off the bench. Lee Jones, Jr. totaled 19 points, 7 assists and 4 rebounds while Brandon Fisher posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Las Positas returns to action on Saturday (Dec. 11) when the Hawks host Diablo Valley College in a 3 p.m. non-conference game.
