PLAYOFF BRACKET

The postseason run for the Las Positas College men's basketball team will officially begin this week as the Hawks were named the No. 5 seed for the upcoming Northern California Regional Playoffs. They will host No. 12 Porterville College in a Round 2 game on Thursday, March 3 at 7 p.m. in Livermore.

Ticket prices for the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) postseason game at The Nest are $12 for general admission and $8 for all identified students, faculty, staff, senior citizens age 60 and over, and children under 12 years old.

Head coach James Giacomazzi has led the Hawks to one of the finest seasons in school history. The Hawks enter the playoffs with an all-time program best 25-3 overall record and finished second in the Coast Conference North Division standings at 12-2, also a school record. Under Giacomazzi, LPC is making its fifth straight postseason appearance.

Porterville put together an impressive season under first-year head coach Amaurys Fermin. The Pirates are 20-7 overall and took second place in the Central Valley Conference with a 10-4 mark. Porterville is making its first playoff appearance since 2003.

The winner of Thursday's game will advance to Round 3 to face either No. 4 Columbia College or No. 13 San Joaquin Delta College on Saturday, March 5. Two wins are needed by the Hawks to advance to the CCCAA Basketball State Championships on March 11-13 at West Hills College Lemoore.
