Las Positas earns national/state swim accolades

Las Positas College swimmers Samantha Dorn and Ashley Sand earned All-American Recognitions in two events apiece.
Dorn was ranked 10th nationally in the 1650 freestyle and 16th in the 500 freestyle, with the top 16 in the country earning All-American accolades.
Sand was ninth nationally in both the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke.
Five Las Positas women earned All-State individual honors, and five LPC women's relay teams also made All-State.
The All-State individuals were Dorn (4th, 1650 freestyle; 10th, 500 freestyle); Sand (fourth, 100 breaststroke; fourth, 200 breaststroke, 12th, 200 IM); Sarah Thompson (16th, 500 freestyle; 16th, 400 IM); Gabrielle Benavidez (15th, 1650 freestyle); and Kendalyn Cox (14th, 200 freestyle).
The Hawks' All-State relay teams included:
- 200 Medley Relay, 15th (Dorn, Sand, Thompson, Cox).
- 400 Medley Relay, 15th (Dorn, Sand, Thompson, Cox).
- 200 Freestyle Relay, 15th (Cox, Thompson, Sand, Benavidez).
- 400 Freestyle Relay, 16th (Cox, Thompson, Benavidez, Sand).
- 800 Freestyle Relay, 10th (Thompson, Benavidez, Dorn, Cox).
MEN'S SWIMMING
Three Las Positas men's swimmers earned All-State accolades, topped by Ross Brown, who was 13th in the 500 Freestyle; 16th in the 400 Individual Medley; and 16th in the 200 Backstroke.
Francois Moufarrej was 12th in the 50 Freestyle and 10th in the 100 Breaststroke; and Cade Venables was 16th in 1-Meter Diving.
All five Hawks' relay teams made All-State:
- 200 Medley Relay, 15th (Brown, Moufarrej, Ryan Clark, Zach Perry).
- 400 Medley Relay, 14th (Brown, Moufarrej, Perry, Kyle Young).
- 200 Freestyle Relay, 14th (Moufarrej, Perry, Brown, Liam Randhawa).
- 400 Freestyle Relay, 16th (Brown, Perry, Young, Moufarrej).
- 800 Freestyle Relay, ninth (Brown, Perry, Young, Moufarrej).
