Hawks fall to Chabot 65-44
For the first time this season, LPC has a losing streak.
The Hawks dropped their second straight game Wednesday night, 65-44 to Chabot in a Coast Conference North Division matchup in Livermore.
LPC (12-7, 1-2) trailed only 18-16 after one quarter, but that deficit grew to 33-23 at halftime. Chabot (8-12, 1-2) led 43-31 late in the third period before Cayla Nava scored five straight points to bring the Hawks within 43-36.
However, Chabot scored the final bucket of the quarter, then opened the fourth with three straight points for a 48-36 advantage. After a Sarah Rodriguez drive was countered with a Chabot basket, Brianna Gay sank two free throws, making the score 50-40 with 8:26 remaining.
At that point, the Hawks’ lack of healthy bodies came into play. Over the next four-and-a-half minutes, Chabot scored nine consecutive points to put the game away, and during that time, Gay and Erika Duarte fouled out, leaving LPC with four available players. The Hawks played the final 6:14 four-against-five.
Nava scored 11 points to pace LPC. Gay and Rodriguez added 9 points each.
LPC’s next game is Friday at 5:30 p.m. at College of San Mateo.
