Hawks go into OT to beat Porterville
Cayla Nava scored 29 points, and Brianna Gay came off the bench to contribute 17 points and 13 rebounds as the Hawks defeated Porterville 83-79 in overtime Saturday in the consolation round of the Fresno City College Tournament in Reedley.
The Hawks (8-3) play for the consolation title at noon Sunday against Reedley (3-4).
Nava scored all 9 of her field goals from three-point range, finishing 9 of 19 from distance and 9 of 22 overall. Gay, meanwhile, was 8 of 14 from the field for LPC, which shot 47 percent from the floor as a team.
Porterville (2-6) led 40-33 at halftime, but the Hawks came back to take a 56-52 lead after three quarters. In overtime, LPC outscored Porterville 10-5.
Jasmine Odell finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Hawks, and Kristjan Aurbry added 11 points and 7 assists.
