Jasmine Odell and Cayla Nava combined for 50 points Monday night, but the Hawks still fell to Contra Costa 88-74 in the first round of the Foothill Holiday Classic in Los Altos Hills.
Odell scored 26 points on 11-of-19 shooting, and she added 9 rebounds before fouling out. Nava took 22 three-point attempts, making 8 to finish with 24 points. Nava is averaging 26.6 points over the last 3 games.
The Hawks (10-4) dropped into the consolation bracket and will face Ohlone, a 63-44 loser to Sierra, at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
The loss to Contra Costa (10-6), the 11th-ranked team in Northern California, marked the third straight tournament that LPC has dropped the first-round game. However, in both the Cuesta and Fresno City tourneys, the Hawks rebounded to win the next two contests.
