LPC falls to .500 mark with loss to San Mateo

For the first time this season, the Hawks' overall record fell to the .500 mark as they lost 89-69 to College of San Mateo on Wednesday night in Livermore.

LPC, which was 12-5 on Jan. 6, now sits at 13-13. The Hawks are also 2-8 in the Coast Conference North Division, with both victories over winless Ohlone.

San Mateo, meanwhile, improved to 14-9 overall and 3-6 in conference.

Cayla Nava led the Hawks with 26 points, while Kristjan Aubry added 12, and Sarah Rodriguez and Brianna Gay had 10 each.

LPC trailed 19-14 after one quarter and 41-31 at halftime. The Lady Bulldogs scored 6 of the first 8 points in the second half to build their lead to 47-33.

After Gay and Nava hit back-to-back jumpers, San Mateo reeled off 10 consecutive points, making it 57-37 with 4:44 left in the third quarter. LPC never got closer than 14 points the rest of the game.

The Hawks' next game is Feb. 17 at 5 p.m. against City College of San Francisco in Livermore. CCSF is 22-3 overall, 9-0 in the conference, and has won 11 in a row. CCSF is also ranked #2 in Northern California.
