The Hawks scored the first goal and most importantly the last goal of their season opening match against Feather River, earning a hard fought 2-1 win yesterday at The Nest.

The scoring started early as freshman Dayton Dilman scored in the 10^th minute, with freshman Alejandro Ramirez getting the assist.

In the 43^rd minute a defensive miscue by the Hawks helped Feather River get the equalizing goal.

The Hawks came out of the gate as the aggressor to start the second half. Once again it was Ramirez getting his second assist of the match in the 51^st minute , as he found freshman Keagan Monnier who was able to chip it past the opposing keeper from close range for the go ahead and game winning goal.

It was a physical, hard-fought match from that point on as FRC tried again and again to mount the game time goal, only to be turned away at every chance.  The task grew even harder for the Hawks as they had to play a man down for the last 20 minutes of the match.

Sophomore keeper Shaib Sandhu had a solid performance, earning his first win as a Hawk.

Las Positas will now look to make it two in a row to start the season, as they will host a 4 pm match on Friday with Siskiyous.
