Hawk Classic preview

Four teams will be making their season debuts Thursday when the annual Hawk Classic begins at Las Positas.

Merritt, Contra Costa, Cuesta, and Redwoods have yet to play a game this season. Merritt takes on 0-2 Modesto in the tournament opener at 1 p.m., while Contra Costa and Cuesta face off at 3.

In the bottom half of the bracket, Redwoods plays 0-2 Marin at 5 p.m., while the 1-0 Hawks meet 0-1 El Camino-Compton Center at 7.

LPC enters its tournament on the heels of a season-opening 69-62 victory over Cabrillo on Nov. 4.

The tourney continues Friday with the semifinals and consolation bracket. The championship, third-place game, and the consolation finals all take place Saturday.
