Hosting Feather River at The Nest, the Hawks score on a second half penalty kick to earn a 1-1 draw in their season opener last night.

The visiting Eagles got the scoring started when Rafaela Anguiano scored in the 34^th minute.

Despite many chances, the Hawks were not able to connect on their scoring chances through out the first half. Then in the 50^th minute, they were able to drive the ball deep into their opponent's penalty area, were a FRC defender was called for a hand ball in an attempt to stop a shot from going in.

With no hesitation, and only a slight surprise from Head Coach Andy Cumbo, sophomore Kylie Hahlbeck step up to take the kick and bury it in the lower right corner leaving the goalie helpless to stop it.

Sophomore defender Allison Mitchell along with freshman keeper Jordan Tovar, who entered the net in the second half, were able to stop any thoughts of getting the go head goal the Eagles might have had, as they controlled the back line turning away chance after chance.

The Hawks will now look to get their first win of the year on Friday night as they host Siskiyous, kick off is scheduled for 6:30 pm.
